Quick Start Class: Sweater Math
(IN-PERSON)

You’ve found the perfect sweater pattern. And you’ve picked out the perfect yarn to knit it with. And you’ve finished your gauge swatch. And your stitch count is off.
Don’t despair! Chances are that you can still knit that sweater out of that yarn. All it takes is a little bit of sweater math to get you on the road to success.
If you’ve always wanted to hack a written pattern so that you can knit it in a different gauge, this Quick Start class is for you!
What you’ll learn:
- How to choose the gauge that’s right for your garment
- How to accurately measure gauge
- How to adjust your game plan to make a sweater that works with your yarn AND fits your body…or the body of someone else.
Skill Level: This class is for confident beginners who are comfortable reading written patterns.
Homework: Knit a 4 inch x 4 inch gauge swatch per your pattern’s instructions, using your chosen yarn. You can use the needle size indicated in the pattern or try several different needle sizes. If you’re changing needle sizes in the same swatch, just throw in a single row of garter stitch to mark where you change needles and make a note of it.
Date: Saturday, April 11, from 10:30 am to 12 pm
Cost: $35
Location: IN-PERSON at The Tea Cozy
Instructor: Barbara
