Intro to Stranded Colorwork
You’ve mastered casting on, knitting and purling, and knitting in the round. Now it’s time to explore colors!
Stranded colorwork knitting—also called Fair Isle knitting—is a centuries-old technique of using two colors in the same row to create beautiful designs in your knitting. This two-session class will guide you through the fundamentals of stranded colorwork as you knit a pair of fingerless gloves with a modern two-color motif.
In this two session class, you’ll learn:
- joining in new colors and hold two different yarns at the same time
- switching between colors
- catching floats
- managing yarn tension
- factoring color dominance into your work
We will also discuss ways to approach combining colors in bigger projects.
