First Socks Class
First Socks
There’s nothing like a pair of hand-knitted socks. But between the small needles, the gussets and heel flaps, and that multi-step Kitchener stitch, they can be more than a little intimidating.
In this three-session class, you will make your first sock! Along the way, you’ll learn the basic anatomy of a sock, from cuff to toe, and master all the skills you’ll need to knit socks that fit like a dream and embark upon future sock journeys with confidence.
In this three session class, you’ll learn:
1. German Twisted cast on (so you don’t cut off the blood flow to your foot)
2. Picking up stitches (for forming the gusset)
3. Making a cushioned heel flap
4. Left-slanting and right-slanting decreases (for shaping the gusset and toe)
5. Kitchener stitch (for seamlessly closing up the toe)
